Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2023, a convention of gamers from around the world, is hosting a mysterious Oscars-style red carpet and stage event, which will feature acts by Babka, a gamer grandma, and Nushi, her robotic feline friend and faithful scout. For the first time ever, this year game developers of all sizes will be able to take part in the spotlight and promote their games on stage, live stream, and on social media.
Participants in GDC 2023 can access the event in the Moscone South lobby of the Moscone Center in San Francisco. According to the organisers, this is more than a convention; it’s a party for the whole gaming industry throughout the world. If you are a developer, you can drop by and showcase the best of your games portfolio and grab a chance to snap a selfie with Nushi and Babka.
The event will be streamed and recorded for later viewing, with the hashtag #LivingLegends being used in appreciation of influential figures in the gaming industry around the world. Also, at various points during the celebration, participants can win exclusive prizes.
Babka, a prominent virtual figure, will host the stage in the Moscone South lobby. Nushi, the cat she took with her on her time travels, will also be there. With the help of Salvatore Salamone, a renowned Hollywood creature artist notable for successful films like The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and Avengers: Endgame, Nushi has been transformed into a robotic quadruped.
Attending developers will also get a chance to participate in a video interview about their projects that will be broadcast on Twitch and promoted across other social media channels, including Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.
The idea behind the decision to use Babka and Nushi is to help gamers demonstrate the potential of interactive media and the expansion of gaming beyond the screen. Through March 24th, 2023, the two will be at the convention, where they’ll mingle with hundreds of game developers looking to spread the word about their latest titles and upcoming works.
Babka and Nushi will be there until the last day of the show, March 24, 2023. Beginning on March 22nd, Babka will be collaborating with Esfand and other Twitch influencers to broadcast live from their location. The #LivingLegends stories, together with interviews and images, will be streamed through various online platforms.
