World football governing body, FIFA, has launched an NFT collectible, FIFA+ Collect, in preparation for the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia. The first drop will be on 15 December, when FIFA Collect+ will launch with the first wave of 100 digital collectibles. These rare collectibles will give fans an opportunity to win tickets to the FIFA World Cup 26 final.
This is the inaugural collection featuring items developed in the partnership between FIFA and tech company, Modex. In the run-up to the FIFA Club World Cup’s final match on December 19, there will be 900 more digital collectibles dropped on the Polygon network and accessible on the OpenSea platform.
The FIFA Club World Cup, will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from December 12, and will feature seven of the best football teams in the world, representing the champions of FIFA’s six confederations. Included in the collection will be digital replicas of memorabilia and unforgettable events from the tournament.
Participating teams in the tournament will include Al Ahly FC (CAF), Auckland City FC (OFC), Fluminense FC (CONMEBOL), Club Leon (Concacaf), Urawa Reds (AFC), and Manchester City FC (UEFA), and reigning Saudi Pro League champions, Al Ittihad.
Over a period of 10 days, fans will be able to get their hands on souvenirs that will grant them access to the FIFA Club World Cup 26 final and real FIFA match items. According to FIFA, the platform, has experienced great success since its launch, and football fans from all around the world can now look forward to owning a piece of footballing history through it.
With digital collectables, fans have more opportunities to engage with their beloved teams, players, and the game itself. In addition to fueling the expansion of the digital collectibles industry, these new releases will give football fans a fresh and exciting way to interact with the world’s most popular sport.
