EigenLayer and Cartesi Call Upon Their Core Devs To Build New Use Cases for Mainstream Users: AI, DeFI, and Beyond

    Summary:
  • EigenLayer's Linux-powered rollups enable developers to build complex on-chain applications with familiar tools.

EigenLayer, the Ethereum restaking protocol, is collaborating with Cartesi, a powerful modular blockchain protocol that supports builders with a full Linux environment and high performance rollups, to invite their core developers to build transformative dApps capable of driving end-user adoption. Builders, including traditional Web2 developers, will be able to leverage the combined strengths of Cartesi’s Linux-powered Coprocessor with EigenLayer’s groundbreaking restaking protocol.

While infrastructure protocols continue to grow at a rapid pace to support future web3 innovations, the adoption and refinement of end-user products hasn’t progressed as quickly. To drive mass adoption of web3 solutions and make a real impact in end-users’ lives, protocol projects must actively work to ideate and nurture the next generation of transformative decentralized applications.

Through an invite-only internal hackathon (Experiment Week #3) taking place from February 10th to February 17th, Cartesi and EigenLayer are leading by example, an inspiration for the industry where protocol core developers get in the trenches to ideate and prototype consumer dApps and new use cases.

“We saw so many mind-blowing projects built in the first two editions of Cartesi Experiment Week, and I’m beyond excited for what’s in store this time – especially with a giant like EigenLayer joining the fun!” said Felipe Argento, Co-founder and Advisor at Cartesi.

EigenLayer’s restaking technology is revolutionizing how blockchain applications can leverage Ethereum’s security and scale, while Cartesi’s Coprocessor is the only virtual machine capable of running Linux in the blockchain space. Over a hundred projects are currently powered by Cartesi.

Nader Dabit, the Director of Developer Advocacy at EigenLayer, said, “We’re thrilled to partner with Cartesi for this hackathon. Their Linux-powered rollups enable developers to build complex on-chain applications with familiar tools. This event will showcase the incredible potential of Cartesi’s technology to push the boundaries of what’s possible in web3.”

Erick de Moura, Founder of Cartesi, commented, “Cartesi’s vision is to expand the web3 design space by bringing real-world computation on-chain. With EigenLayer, Cartesi’s Linux Coprocessor unlocks groundbreaking possibilities for developers. Experiment Week offers a unique opportunity to showcase practical applications and inspire new builders and founders through this powerful collaboration.”

By combining Cartesi’s Linux-powered Coprocessor with EigenLayer’s groundbreaking restaking protocol, developers will have at their fingertips the security and scalability benefits of restaking combined with complete compatibility with the mainstream software industry, opening up the space of innovation in web3. This synergy opens the door to sophisticated DeFi, verifiable AI inferences, and countless other use cases.

Amid growing demand for decentralized AI to ensure transparency, security, and trust in AI applications, builders have the opportunity to experiment and address key industry concerns like data integrity, fairness, and verifiability, ultimately fostering a more reliable and ethical AI landscape. The limited computational capacity and high costs of current data availability and execution layers make it impossible or exceedingly expensive for applications to run AI on-chain.

The Cartesi Coprocessor revolutionizes blockchain applications by equipping smart contracts with the software tools and complex computation that power web2. What sets the Cartesi Coprocessor apart is its integration of a Linux-compatible RISC-V virtual machine, providing developers with a familiar and versatile environment for executing computations. This compatibility bridges the gap between traditional software development and blockchain innovation, making it easier than ever before for developers to reuse existing software libraries and tools for web3 use cases.

EigenLayer solves the bootstrapping problem for new web3 services by providing a “marketplace for trust.” Instead of requiring every web3 builder to independently raise capital, establish cryptoeconomic security, and onboard Operators, EigenLayer offers Cryptoeconomic Security as a Service by bringing together Restakers, Operators, and Actively Validated Services (AVSs). Through this approach, new projects benefit from Ethereum’s security guarantees without having to go through the costly process of securing their own network.

Both Cartesi and EigenLayer are committed to accelerating mass adoption of blockchain solutions by bridging the gap between infrastructure protocols and end-users dApps.

ABOUT EIGENLAYER

EigenLayer is a decentralized restaking protocol that enhances the security and scalability of blockchain ecosystems by allowing Ethereum validators to extend their security guarantees to additional networks and services. By leveraging the existing Ethereum staking infrastructure, EigenLayer enables developers and decentralized applications to benefit from Ethereum’s robust security without the need to establish separate validator networks.

ABOUT CARTESI

Cartesi is a powerful modular blockchain protocol that equips developers with access to a full Linux environment and high performance rollups designed to support next-generation dApps. With the integration of Linux, the Cartesi Virtual Machine enables developers to build dApps with the benefit of decades of battle-tested programming languages, tooling, and libraries. Cartesi gives each dApp its own rollup with dedicated compute, bringing significant gains in computational scalability without compromising on decentralization, security and censorship resistance.
