    Summary:
  • Technology company, Garmin has released new software updates to a variety of its gadgets. We tell you about this and the changes it brings.

Garmin International, Inc., a multinational technology company with headquarters in Switzerland, Tuesday announced that it had undertaken a significant software upgrade for a range of its products. The update improves the performance of popular watches, including the Fenix 7, Epix 2, and Instinct 2. The most striking of these is the heart rate variability (HRV). It measures the typical time interval between heartbeats and provides insight into overall health, illness, and fatigue.

How do Garmin’s updates change things?

The majority of the new features have been around since the Forerunner 955 and 255 first came out. Also, future models, such as the Forerunner 945 LTE and the Edge® 1040 series of cycle computers, will include some of these features.

Updated wearables like the Fenix 7 now have the capacity to calculate your heart rate variability scores automatically during the night and report them in the morning alongside other sleep data. Garmin also says that they have integrated metrics such as HRV into their Training Status indicator. Also, you can then determine whether you are pushing yourself too hard or not hard enough during your workout.

The update also includes a new feature called “Race Widget,” which helps serious runners and triathletes count down till their next race. They can then obtain a prediction of how they will do depending on their current fitness level. The upgrade also brings forth battery saving through SatIQ. To conserve power, SatIQ activates multi-band GPS just when it’s needed and turns it off when it’s no longer needed, making it ideal for use in locations with poor cell reception.

In addition, the update now includes a stock tracker widget that can keep tabs on the prices of as many as 50 different stocks. Also, in addition to using Garmin Express, customers can set up their smartwatch or cycle computer to download and install software updates automatically. The Forerunner 955 and other recent models already have these features. The update, however, puts the 955 at par with other high-end watches like the Fenix 7 and Epix 2.
